Cinnamon Diabetes - Type 2 Diabetic Treatment
Both India and Sri Lanka have the inner bark of a tropical evergreen
tree called Cinnamon. Both were known as a medicine and as a spice.
Cinnamon is in the form of dried tubular known as a quill or as
ground powder. Scientists have discovered that cinnamon has
insulin-like properties, which able to decrease blood glucose level
as well as cholesterol and triglycerides, both are important for
type 2 diabetes patients.
With one gram or half a teaspoon of cinnamon into
your daily diet for diabetic patients, it can significantly reduce
blood glucose level. You can even soaking a cinnamon stick in your
tea or coffee which can help to prevent and combat diabetes.
Scientist discovered that cinnamon's insulin-like
effects and its active ingredient, called polyphenols can boost
levels of three key proteins. Those proteins are crucial to
promoting normal insulin-signaling processes, a healthy inflammatory
response, and efficient glucose transportation throughout the body.
Two groups of volunteers with type 2 diabetes
have been tested over a period of 40 days. One group was a
controlled group and the other group were given one, three or six
grams of cinnamon powder in capsules a day after meals. All
volunteers responded within weeks with blood sugar level that were
on average 20% lower than a control group. Some even achieved a
normal blood sugar level. However, when the cinnamon capsules were
stopped, blood sugar level started to increase.
Not only the test concluded that it have the
ability to lower blood glucose level, it also lowered blood levels
of fats and bad cholesterol, which are also controlled by insulin.
The benefits of cinnamon also include treating stomach disorders,
diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. It acts as a digestive aid and can
relieve gas and bloating. The most intriguing of all is the recently
touted and mentioned above cinnamon diabetes treatment.
Cinnamon diabetes treatment is a cost effective
way of offsetting health problem related to glucose or insulin
imbalances. If your blood sugar level are not constant, why not give
cinnamon a try. It can be easily bought at any food shop in a
convenient powdered form. Just add it to what ever you would eat
